Mount Lewotobi Men Erupts, Masks and Clean Water Access

Sikka Regency, NTT -Until Wednesday (6/26), the status of Mount Lewotobi men is still at level IV (Awas). Volcanic activity is still high, with a continuous gust of earthquake. Residents are asked to remain aware of the potential for further dangers, including cold lava floods when it rains. The first eruption occurred on June 18, 2025, with volcanic ash that reached a height of up to 10,000 meters above the top of the mountain and spread to a number of areas. Responding to this emergency condition, Bumi Mandiri human beings moved quickly to channel masks to residents in Sikka Regency who were affected and had difficulty getting basic protection from the distribution of ash.

Access to basic protection such as masks, clean water, and food starts to be limited. Residents in Nangahane Village, Talibura District, and along the Waigete highway are among the most affected. The activities of the residents were disrupted, the eyes were sore due to ash, and mobility stalled because the road conditions were covered with volcanic dust.

In the midst of this condition, Insan Bumi Mandiri volunteers descend to the location to distribute masks to more than 400 residents who have difficulty accessing. But the need is far greater than just a mask. “It is very difficult to channel assistance when the volcanic ash falls still occur. We hope to immediately help more people who have difficulty,” said Pak Yanto, a local volunteer from the Insan Bumi Mandiri Foundation.

Insan Bumi Mandiri invites the community to help provide sustainable support, because at this time it is very necessary so that affected residents can survive and recover. The eruption has not subsided, and many residents have not felt safe at home.
